WM Proposal #13 – Adding a FA after Deadline

Example:  S. Richmond, a Free Agent, is scheduled to start wednesday night for Toronto.  In the past, we have been unable to add these types.  Let’s change this allow Richmond to be picked up that week.  Of course, Richmond needs to be activated prior to the start of this teams game.

Same would apply for a Free Agent hitter being activated from the DL.  As long as that player is playing in that game or activated I’m okay with it.

Are we saying this is only allowed for guys who are being activated the night of our transaction deadline, which is now Wed?

    Yes Sir.

    I’m in favor of this

If it reported that Player A is to be activated for a Wed Night Game and it turns out that Player A is not activated, for whatever reason, what happens then? Does an owner have to submit a “if player A isn’t activated by his MLB team then I want player B instead”.

Also, what if player B is not available because DMB took him but he was TRC’s “if then” player?

The short answer to this questions is the same for other weekly moves questions. Be as specific as possible with your weekly moves. It’s year 5 or 6 or 7, and we still have teams submitting moves without backup options. This has to change folks. I don’t know about the rest of you, but SOT is something I enjoy and look forward to every year. How difficult is it to take 5 minutes out of your day and construct a comprehensive email that fully explains your intentions for that week.

I have no problem with continuing to submit moves in this fashion. I guess that answers my question. Thanks Mike.

  7. Sot says:

For the record, TRC continues to lead the way among weekly moves submitted. Your work is much appreciated.

When you have all the injuries we normally experience it tends to lead to a lot of weekly moves.
